Aluminum capacitors are polarized electrolytic capacitors featuring two aluminum anode electrodes that form an insulative dielectric layer. They are designed for applications that require high voltage or large capacitance and are used in computers and other electronic devices. Computer grade capacitors are used for various industry applications including automotive, telecommunications, energy, industrial, and more.

What Is the Difference Between Aluminum Capacitors vs. Film Capacitors?

Aluminum capacitors and film capacitors are both used to provide electrical energy and smooth ripple voltage in DC applications, but each provides different characteristics and advantages. Deciding between the two types of computer grade capacitors will depend heavily on your preferences and your operating application.
 
Aluminum Capacitors:
  • Electrodes are made from an aluminum anode, cathode foil and paper
  • Constructed from liquid or gel materials
  • Have ten times the energy density of film capacitors
  • Max voltage of 550VCD
  • Polarized
  • Snap-in style capacitors

Film Capacitors:
  • Has electrodes made from metal-coated plastic
  • Constructed from dry materials
  • Tolerates higher voltages than aluminum capacitors
  • Max Voltage of 1500VDC (Might be higher)
  • Nonpolarized

Surface Mount Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Surface mount aluminum electrolytic capacitors are non-solvent resistant computer grade capacitors that provide a high voltage range. We offer aluminum capacitors that provide the following features:
  • Endurance: 2,000 hours at 105°C
  • Voltage range: 35&50Vdc, 160 to 450Vdc
  • Capacitance tolerance: ± 20% (M)
  • RoHS compliant

Miniature Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors 

Miniature aluminum electrolytic capacitors that are non-solvent resistant and help minimize ESR. Additional features low impedance aluminum capacitors include:
  • Endurance: 1,000 to 5,0000 or 4,000 to 10,000 hours at 105°C
  • Voltage range: 6.3 to 100Vdc
  • Capacitance tolerance: ± 20% (M)
  • RoHS compliant
