Electronic Switches

An electronic switch is an electronic component or device that can switch an electrical circuit, interrupting the current or diverting it from one conductor to another. Switches are essentially binary devices: they are either completely on (closed) or completely off (open). PUI’s switches are available in a variety of styles and configurations to suit your project needs. Some of our switch features, include:

  • Pushbutton Switches are available in lighted and Non-lighted versions.
  • Many of the Pushbutton switches are offered in larger diameter sizes.
  • A wide variety of toggle switches are available in Low-Profile, straight, right angle and PCB mount.
  • Joy Sticks in handgrip styles, thumb control and five–way control styles.

Meder & APEM Switches

PUI’s Meder and APEM switches are available in numerous style and configurations, some of which include:

Pushbutton Switches

A pushbutton switch is a two-position device that is actuated with a button that is pressed and released. Most pushbutton switches have an internal spring mechanism returning the button to its “out,” or “unpressed,” position, for momentary operation. PUI’s pushbutton switches are the best in the industry and feature manufacturing from Meder and APEM.

Toggle Switches

Toggle switches are actuated by a lever angled in one of two or more positions. An obvious example of this type of toggle is a light switch. Most toggle switches will come to rest in any of their lever positions, while others have an internal spring mechanism returning the lever to a certain normal position, allowing for momentary operation. PUI’s toggle switches are among the finest in the industry.

Joystick Switches

A joystick switch is triggered by a lever that can move in more than one axis of motion. Depending on the function, one or more switch contact mechanisms can be actuated depending on which way the lever is pushed. The circle-and-dot notation on the switch is symbolic of the direction of the joystick lever motion required to actuate the contact. Joystick hand switches are frequently used for crane and robot controls.
